Glad Indigenous supports the Veterans’ Employment Program

Glad Indigenous is proud to support the Veterans’ Employment Program (VEP) which aims to provide help for veterans interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. We have been listed as a supporter of the Veterans’ Employment scheme, providing veteran job seekers the ability to identify our organisation for vacancies and positions.

We recently sat down with Danny Franks, Glad Indigenous’ Client Services Manager, to learn more about this program and how it will benefit the community in which we operate.

What is the Veterans’ Employment Program?

The purpose of the Veterans’ Employment Program is to recruit Australia’s highly skilled ex-servicemen and women. The VEP promotes and encourages Australian veterans who have served the country by valuing their unique skillsets and experiences. These proficiencies are in high demand and shift quickly to national employment.

Why is Glad Indigenous supporting this Program?

Glad Indigenous’ CEO, Scott Franks, served as a Defence member, joining the Royal Australian Army when he was 17 years-old and was attached to the RAAC (Royal Australian Armor Corps). Building on his experience, we understand and recognise the real-time struggles ex-Defence members can suffer from while returning to a civilian role.

For Glad Indigenous, having the opportunity to be plugged into the veteran's network will be an incredible asset as we will be able to onboard and attract ex-defence talents into our workforce. This will help us to align ourselves with our vision of creating an inclusive and diverse culture. This also generates further team cohesion and enhances our team capabilities of working together.

How will this Program benefit the community?

The Glad Indigenous team is currently developing a community engagement process where we identify groups of people to broaden the scope we currently have access to. We are trying to shift the focus from the individual to the collective, we work together, not apart. By encouraging this program in the communities we operate in, we aim to reinforce the diversity that exists within the Indigenous communities.
